A film about the World Gliding Championship in Leszno (Poland) in 1958. Before the start of the competition, glider pilots from all over the world gathered at the Leszno airfield: the British brothers [Nick Hudgart] and [Tony Hudgart], Swede [Peterson], pilot from the Soviet Union Viktor Vladimirovich Goncharenko, African and Argentine pilots, American [Smith], French [Barbera], pilots from Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia [Kumpost], [Mestna] and [Orabich], Japanese [Oda], Poles Adam Vitek, Jerzy Voinar, Edward Makulya and many others. Airplanes lift gliders into the sky. Start of the competition along the route Leszno - Zielona Gora - Leszno. Special vehicles with vans and communications are escorted by hovering gliders along the roads. Forced landing of gliders by the road, in the forest, by the railway. During the passage of the route, the weather deteriorates, glider pilots get caught in rain and strong winds. Towards nightfall, the trailers return gliders with pilots to the airfield in Leszno. The next day of the World Gliding Championship begins in the morning.
