Abstract
A film about the traditions of Russian literature and the problem of preserving cultural values. The film features excerpts from the works of F. Tyutchev, E. Baratynsky, M. Tsvetaeva, fragments from the notes of M. Lomonosov, E. Dashkova, N. Rumyantsev. The film gives interviews (synchronously): Academician D. S. Likhachev, journalist E. N. Elshov, a resident of the village of Kevrola A. I. Podrezova, a schoolboy from Yelabuga Ildar Kharisov and others. Children on the ruins of an old house. The boy takes out an old book from the ruins. Portraits of M. Lomonosov, N. Rumyantsev. Icons. Artists restore old books. Chronicle footage of the 1920s-1930s: destruction of monuments and churches, a parade of athletes, people on the street.
