Art Was Our Idol

The film tells about the life and work of the 19th century Russian poet A. N. Apukhtin, about his friendship with P. Tchaikovsky. It presents memories from Mikhail Tchaikovsky's book "The Life of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky" and Apukhtin's poems performed by actor Leonid Zverintsev. Romances to the words of the poet are played (per frame). The film includes the following filming: views of St. Petersburg, building b. schools of jurisprudence, the grave of A. N. Apukhtin, the building of the Russian Museum, a barge sails along the Neva. The film uses photographs, notes of romances on poems by A. Apukhtin, drawings.
