Contemporary No 36-37

The movie "Contemporary No. 36-37" tells about the Jewish community in the city of Samara. In the I part the following filming was used: City of Samara, 1991. The soloist of the Jewish ensemble "Aliya" Tatiana Rudinskaya sings a song at the microphone on the stage (sinhr.). View of the railway station, departing passenger train. Jewish community Hebrew teacher Felix Lieberman explains material to men and women at the blackboard in class. Member of the board of the society "Tarbut Laam" Lilia Segal talks about the peculiarities of Jewish culture, the Jewish school that existed in Samara until 1937 (sinhr.). Adults and children of the Jewish community dance at the Jewish holiday "Hanukkah". View of tombstones, fences at the Jewish cemetery. In the second part, the following filming was used: Samara, 1991. The building of the choral synagogue on Sadovaya Street, built in 1908 by the architect Z. Kleinerman. (The building is an object of cultural heritage of the Russian Federation). Kantor Joseph Matveyevich Levit reads a prayer at a service in the Samara Choral Synagogue. Joseph Kiselman, who moved permanently from Samara to Israel, speaks of the revival of the national Jewish culture at the present time (sinhr.). The soloist of the Jewish ensemble "Aliya" Tatiana Rudinskaya sings a song at the microphone on the stage (sinhr.). World War II veteran Lev Bdil plays the piano at home. Translator from Hebrew Alexander Belousov talks about Jewish culture, about the possibility of organizing a Jewish community in Samara, about his Jewish teachers (sinhr.).
