Dzerzhintsy

A film about an amateur dance ensemble of the Metallurgical Plant. Dzerzhinsky (Dneprodzerzhinsk), celebrating the 25th anniversary of its foundation. Part I An amateur dance ensemble is rehearsing in the Palace of Culture of the Dzerzhinsky Metallurgical Plant, headed by Kim Efimovich Vasilenko. Children are closely watching the work of adults, some of them are dressed in national costumes. For participation in the VI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow, the ensemble was awarded a diploma and gold medals. All members of the ensemble work as metallurgists at the Dneprodzerzhinsk plant. Soloists: Mikhail Nesterenko - henchman of the blast-furnace shop, Komsomol member Vyacheslav Gavrilenko manages oxygen blast in the open-hearth shop, Komsomol members Igor Skorodilov and Galina Shevchenko work on lathes, Alexei Matveev - assistant blower driver in the converter shop Nikolay Komsomov - constructor. Shop foreman Stepan Tikhonovich Nedelka talks with worker and dancer N. Kobets. The honored bandurist chapel is engaged in the factory palace of culture. Among her soloists are crane operator Zoya Balakhovskaya, Larisa Pediska and Galina Kurennaya. In the adjacent foyer, a pop orchestra is rehearsing, all members of which also work at the plant. Part II The designer of the metallurgical plant and the soloist of the dance ensemble E. Grigoriev works at the drawing board in the design bureau. He makes calculations for the coursework of the evening metallurgical institute. Part-time student of the Moscow Theater Institute K.E. Vasilenko studies photographs of various dances. A resident of the Ukrainian village of Romankovo Lyubov Trofimovna Sogur tells the head of the ensemble K.E. Vasilenko and soloist E. Grigoriev on ancient rural wedding rituals and customs. Ukrainian wedding dance staged by K.E. Vasilenko on an impromptu stage in the workshop of the plant is performed by amateur artists. Spectators in work clothes applaud the metallurgical dancers. For organizing amateur performances, the head of the dance ensemble K.E. Vasilenko and Chairman of the Board of the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists Yuri Trofimovich Tertychny are awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. On the stage of the Palace of Culture, the factory's amateur ensemble performs the hopak in a new production. The audience in the hall is applauding.
