Abstract
Picturesque portraits of the Cossack chieftain, explorer Ermak (Vasily Timofeevich Alenin), whose squad at the end of the 16th century marked the beginning of the conquest of Siberia by the Russian state. Miniatures from the Nikon Chronicle and the Royal Book of the Obverse Chronicle Set represent the historical background of the life of the Cossacks in the 16th century, the history of the campaign of Yermak's squad in Siberia. Landscapes of the area on the Don, in the Astrakhan reserve, the Perm region, on the rivers Chusovaya, Tagil, Irtysh. The filmmakers recreate the path followed by Yermak's squad to Siberia.
