Abstract
A film about "freedom" of religion in the USSR. Moscow city. The World Conference of Religious Leaders (1982); the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Pimen is speaking. Conference participants lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Church services in Orthodox, Catholic, Buddhist temples, Muslim mosques, Jewish synagogue, prayer house of Christian Baptists in cities: Moscow, Tbilisi, Tallinn, Vilnius, Sergiev Posad, Ulan-Ude. Believers pray, clergymen read prayers, perform church rites of baptism, communion, weddings in the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta (Georgia). Armenia, Echmiadzin. Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I and the clergy are conducting a service in one of the temples. Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II conducts a service at the Elephant Patriarchal Cathedral. Orthodox Assumption Convent in Pyukhtitsa, near Tallinn, Trinity-Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region. Monument to A. Navoi in Samarkand.
