The film is about the 1954 flood. Pilots in the cockpit. View of the land from the plane: flooded fields, villages after the flood of the Ganges River; boats on the river; city by the river. Destroyed houses in villages; planks from destroyed dwellings float along the river; surviving houses on the banks of the river. Peasants on the shore are watching the rushing water. River bank fortified with stones. Water destroys the fortified bank, carries away stones. Indian specialists and military personnel are making attempts to strengthen the coast. View of the shore washed away by water, houses collapsing. Restoration work: peasants in the village are dismantling the rubble, reinforcing the banks with boards, repairing the roof of the post office building. People are walking along the streets of one of the villages, humanitarian aid to the peasants is being unloaded from the car. Water rushes, carries away trees from the collapsed banks, trees float along the river. Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, accompanied by officials and servicemen, is watching the flooding of the Ganges River from the bank, inspecting the destroyed building.
