Moscow city. Meeting room of the IV Congress of Soviet Writers in the Grand Kremlin Palace. Speakers: K. A. Fedin, A. D. Salynsky, S. V. Mikhalkov, M. Tursun-zade, K. M. Simonov, A. A. Surkov, M. A. Sholokhov, V. K. Ketlinskaya, N. S. Tikhonov; foreign guests: R. Kent (USA), P. Neruda (Chile), M. Larni (Finland), Nguyen Dinh Thi (Vietnam). NV Podgorny read out the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on awarding the Union of Writers of the USSR with the Order of Lenin, attaches the order to the banner of the Union. At the congress are present: Leonid Brezhnev, A. N. Kosygin, K. T. Mazurov, M. A. Suslov, D. S. Polyansky, A. N. Shelepin, P. N. Demichev and others. On the sidelines of the congress give interviews: R. G. Gamzatov, A. A. Voznesensky, V. P. Aksenov, A. D. Koptyaeva, Ch. Aitmatov. Poetry evening at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall; poetess BA Akhmadulina speaks, gives autographs.
