The film starred residents of one of the villages of the Khvoyninsky district of the Novgorod region: Baba Katya, Nikolai Vasilyevich, his wife Antonina Efimovna and others. Village view, wooden huts, vegetable gardens, river. The interior of the house of Baba Katya. Baba Katya spins yarn and talks (synchronously) about her life, about past village customs, everyday life and holidays. Nikolai Vasilyevich mows the grass, carries water in buckets, pours it into a barrel for making beer, pours hops and wort into the water. Antonina Efimovna milks a cow. The villagers sit at a table set on the street, eat, drink prepared beer from a barrel, sing songs, dance.
