First Secretary of the Board of the Union of Composers of the USSR TN Khrennikov makes a report (synchronously). Participants of the congress in the hall. On the podium: M. A. Suslov, K. T. The Symphony Orchestra performs the Fifteenth Symphony of D. D. Shostakovich, conducts M. D. Shostakovich (synchronously). The choir performs "Gurian Songs" by O. Taktakishvili, conducts - O. Taktakishvili (synchronously). The orchestra performs "M. Skorik's Carpathian Concert" (synchronously). Performances of the Latvian Choir and the Kurmangazy Kazakh Orchestra of Folk Instruments (synchronously). A scene from the play "A Million Newlyweds" by M. Kazhlaev performed by artists of the Leningrad Music Hall (synchronously). Singer M. Magomayev performs the song "Melody" (synchronously). The choir performs a work by G. Sviridov dedicated to the memory of the musician A. Yurlov. The concerts are attended by M. Kazhlaev, A. N. Pakhmutova, Yu. V. Silantyev. Composer A. Khachaturyan plays the piano during a meeting with the audience (synchronously). The film includes newsreels showing composers D. D. Shostakovich and D. B. Kabalevsky.
