Abstract
The film tells about the life of the Lithuanian peasant Jozas Vagintas (1896-1989), who was exiled to Siberia in 1945, engaged in the manufacture of wooden barrels for beer on his farm. First part. An elderly man (Jozas Vagintas) with his wife are standing in a field by a tree, square. - their faces. J. Vagintas in the courtyard of his house makes an ax, chops wood, talks about his life. NDP on outbuildings in the courtyard of the estate. J. Vagintas works in the workshop. NDP on subjects of folk life in the workshop. General view of a wooden house. Village street, a motorcycle is going by. J. Vagintas makes a wooden barrel for beer. Apples on the tree in the garden. A man collects water from a well on the street into a can, carries it home on a trolley. Turkeys walk around the yard. Photos of J. Vagintas in his youth, family photos. Jozas Vagintas with a stick walks along the road. The boy looks from behind the fence. Jozas Vagintas explains how to make an oak beer barrel correctly. The wooden base of the barrel is steamed in a vat over a fire. The men get the barrel out of the vat. Chickens sit on the back of a bench in the yard, dogs are running around. The man pulls together the wooden wedges of the barrel, secures them. Elderly women with flowers in their hands are talking on the street. The women are on a regular bus. Passengers board the bus at the bus stop. The second part of. J. Vagintas works in his workshop, talks about the difficulties of life, about the international situation. J. Vagintas works at a woodworking machine. NDP on tools in the workshop. J. Vagintas cleans a wooden barrel. Passengers ride in the bus, among them - J. Vagintas with his wife. It is snowing, a wooden house behind a picket fence. J. Vagintas enters the workshop, talks about how their family was evicted to Siberia in 1945, how they returned 13 years later, and there was nothing in the place of the farm. Cr.pl. - the face of J.
