Abstract
Landscapes of the island of Svalbard: mountains, ocean, Cape Starostin. Newsreels on various expeditions to the North Pole. View of the village of Barentsburg, in which Soviet citizens live. Residents of the village are looking after the planting of cucumbers in the greenhouse, listening to the radio, reading books. View of the Pyramid coal mine of the Soviet Artikugol trust. Mine workers sail on the Severomorsk steamer to a village inhabited by Norwegian citizens. Residents of a Norwegian village greet Soviet miners. Svalbard landscapes: waterfall; birds on ice floes, on a mountain; flowers (summer photography). Residents of the village of Barentsburg carry cargo from a helicopter that delivered food and industrial goods to the village. Residents of the village are greeting the Krasin icebreaker, which has arrived on the shores of Spitsbergen. Employees of the meteorological station in Svalbard are working with instruments.
