Abstract
The life (work, everyday life, rest, social events) of the small nationality of the USSR - the Karagas (the modern name of Tofalars) of hunters, reindeer herders, before the revolution, under Soviet rule (some of the shooting may have been staged). Landscapes of the Sayan mountains, taiga. Sable in the taiga. Wild, domesticated deer in the taiga in the pastures. Sick children, kulaks, shamans drinking Karagas. Creation of a hunting cooperative, collective farm: voting at a general meeting in the presence of a Russian representative. Sable hunting. State reserve: surrender of furs. A tour of the camps by the doctor. Reindeer collective farm: school, hospital, pharmacy, kindergarten. Construction of a hydroelectric dam. In the film: summer, winter shooting.
