Abstract
Men dig trenches on the outskirts of Madrid. Barricades on the streets of Madrid. Buildings destroyed by bombing. Ruins of the palace of the Duke of Alba. Paintings by Velazquez, bust of the Duke of Alba, rescued from destruction. Madrid residents read the flyers, stand in line for bread. Women wash clothes in the laundry. The peasants plow the land on mules. There were sheep and goats on the streets of Madrid. Food wagons moving along the road to the city. Soldiers of the people's militia enter the armored train. Armored train on the way. Soldiers of the people's militia are firing from an artillery gun. Members of the people's militia fire rifles from the windows of buildings on the campus. Andre Marty speaks to the formation of the recruits of the international brigade.
