The film tells about the tragedy that took place in the Polish village [Mikhnev] in July 1943, when the Nazis burned, shot, took to the torture chambers of the Gestapo most of the inhabitants, and destroyed the village. The surviving villagers with photographs of their murdered relatives stand at the ruined houses. The priest conducts a mass for the dead, relatives read a prayer with lighted candles in their hands.
