Abstract
The second part of the film about the youth construction of the railway on the section Gronska-Dubrava - Banska Stiavnica in Czechoslovakia. Part 1 A train arrives at the railway station with a party of young volunteers who have decided to work on the construction of the Gronska-Dubrava - Banska Stiavnica railway line. They are given work clothes. Vegetables and watermelons are unloaded from the train for the general kitchen of the builders. Volunteers live in a campground or in wooden huts. They prepare firewood for kitchen stoves themselves, wash work clothes in a centralized manner, and bake bread. In their free time, they decorate their homes - paint the walls, read newspapers that are handed out to them for free, amateurs play chess. At a construction site in the mountains, young people smash rock with pickaxes, push trolleys with broken rocky soil along the rails, or manually carry the soil out on a stretcher. The construction management is conferring in the General Staff building. On the wall hangs a portrait of the President of Czechoslovakia, Clement Gottwald, design engineers are working on drawings, secretaries-typists are typing, a signalman connects telephone lines on the switchboard. In May 1948, young volunteer construction workers take part in the vote of the National Assembly. At the end of the working period, the construction workers are presented with awards to the volunteer shock brigades. And in the evening everyone gathers together for a farewell fire. Young people perform Slovak, Arabic, Jewish and other dances. Part 2 Construction of a railway line in the mountains continues. Builders drill pits for laying explosives into rocks, work with jackhammers, pickaxes, put rocky soil into trolleys, carry rails for laying, strengthen the embankment, and work with a concrete mixer. International brigades gathered at the youth construction site: the Bulgarian brigade named after Georgiy Dimitrov works at night by firelight, the French brigade is laying concrete in the base of the viaduct, the Polish brigade is participating in the construction of the tunnel in Banská Štiavnica. In their free time, young people swim in a mountain river, someone plays chess. The town of Banska Stiavnica. Various materials are required for the construction of a railway. An excavator is working, a tractor is leveling the site for a new brick factory. In the town of Banska Bela, a brick foundation is being laid for the future station. Povazhskiy metalworking plant in [Povazska-Bystrica]. Young people work hard in the workshop on machine tools, so they help the builders of the railway. In the town of Gronska-Dubrava, a bridge is being built over the river Hron. Builders are driving piles. They go to meet the volunteers in Banská Stiavnica.
