The film tells about the complex structure of the herd organization of monkeys on the example of the life of animals in the Sukhumi nursery. The first part: A herd of monkeys in the Gumista river tract. Views of the river, mountains. Hamadryas baboon surrounded by females. Females fight over the male. A herd of monkeys in the clearing. Females look for fleas from young. Nursery staff conduct psychological experiments with monkeys. The second part: Employees of the Institute of Physiology named after I.P. Pavlov of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR are conducting an experiment with chimpanzees.
