Mosfilm Studio

About

Mosfilm is a film production studio located in Moscow, one of the largest and oldest in Russia and Europe. Founded in 1924 as the production unit of the State Committee for Cinematography (Goskino), it has produced some of the most celebrated films of the Soviet era, ranging from works by Andrei Tarkovsky and Sergei Eisenstein to Akira Kurosawa's co-production "Dersu Uzala" and the legendary "War and Peace" by Sergei Bondarchuk.

Today, Mosfilm is the only studio that maintains its own film archive and invests its resources in extensive film restoration. In addition, Mosfilm actively participates in the organization of classic Soviet film retrospectives and screenings both in Russia and abroad.
